Worldwide Water Shortage

I read the article Worldwide Water Shortage On Horizon. I learned that by 2025 more than half the nations in the world will have freshwater stress. By 2050 as much as 75 percent of the world's population could have freshwater scarcity. To fix the water shortage dilemma the US will need to use all water sources.200 different scientist from different countries said the most concerning issue with the world today is water shortage. Humans have access to 0.8% of the earths water. The demand for water within the next two decades is supposed to increase 40%. This shows their is not going to be enough water to support our needs. Water is not only a demand for people to drink but it takes 1,000 tonnes of water to create a ton of wheat. Their is simply just not enough water for our worlds needs.

NOT ALL WET

In many regions of the world water is getting short. An article named "not all wet" says that " Of a population of roughly 6.1 billion, more than 1 billion lack access to potable water" meaning that plenty people don't have access to potable water around the world especially regions where rain doesn't come that often. The article also says that approximately 5 million people die each year from poor drinking water, poor sanitation or dirty home environment. This is important because the vital liquid for life is no longer safe no more.Instead of bringing life it takes it away.Dirty Water

Osama bin Laden

Bin Laden is the founder of Al Qaeda in 1988 during the to consolidate the international network he established during the Afghan war. Its goals were the advancement of Islamic revolutions throughout the Muslim world and repelling foreign intervention in the Middle East. After the first Gulf War, Al Qaeda shifted its focus to fighting the growing U.S. presence in the Middle East. In 1991 bin Laden moved to Sudan, where he operated until 1996. During that time, Al Qaeda established connections with other terror organizations. Al Qaeda has been involved in several terror attacks. Their most devastating attack on September 11, 2001. When 19 Al Qaeda operatives hijacked four passenger planes and drove two into the Twin Towers in New York City and one into the Pentagon. A fourth plane did not make it and crashed in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attack.

Dawn of a thirsty centuary

The worlds water is salty but only 2.5% of it is not. The people that drink the water and dose not clean will probably get an infection or they will get sick. They are people that drink water like that and some get some ugly long worms that they come out of there feet. So its important that we clean our waters so we wound get some weird diseases . Then in this world we have a lot of water and then we have floods.

Richard Reid

On February 16, 2002, Richard Reid was a British passenger on the Boeing 767 tried to light a fuse to his shoe. He packed enough explosives in the sole in his shoe to blow up to blow a hole in the fuselage of the aircraft. His plan though did not go through because a woman began screaming getting the attention of two flight attendants, who quickly restrained him with belts and sedated him with drugs that was in the med kit on board. He was taken into custody right away. It is alleged that Reid received training at camps in Afghanistan run by al-Qaeda because the bomb inside his shoe was a very sophisticated one said to be one of the many favorite method al-Qaeda likes to use. Both FBI and French law-enforcement sources say that there were palm prints and hair on the shoe that didn't belong to Reid that includes that he must of had help.

Drought declared in California

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a state wide drought for California. There are already some communities in California that already have mandatory water saves. Governor Schwarzenegger has ordered that we speed up water transfers to the worst places with the shortages. Some people think that it won't effect them because they have enough money to get water or because there not poor they don't have to worry bout it, but what they don't realize is that soon its going to effect everybody and that we all are going to have 2 share our water very carefully and be cautious about how much they use.

Drought Declared In California

Gov. Schwarzenegger has declared a state wide drought in California, duo to the dry climate and lack of rain, the gov. has directed State Department of Water Resources to help speed the water transfers to areas with the worst droughts, he also addressing locals, and business to cut back on water use, since many communities in California are now resorting to rationing, many crops aren't going to be producing crops at the end of the year duo to lack of water, which is a waste of billions of yearly dollars that wont be produced so this water shortage is pretty serious.

Drought declared in California

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared drought in California. There has been two years of below average rainfall, low snow-melt runoff and a court-ordered restriction on water transfers. The Governor has warned the residents and water managers that they need to cut their use of water supply. If we don't we might have restrictions if we have another dry winter. Schwarzenegger has signed an order to speed up water transfers in the state to areas that are in need of water like farmer fields. I believe everyone should be responsible to cutting their use with water. If we don't crops will suffer and we will have less water for our personal use. Especially since California is big with wild fires, we might not have enough water to put them out and people will loose their homes and maybe even lives. We need water in order to survive.

9/11 suspect: 'I wish to be martyred'

Mohammed wishes to dismiss his lawyers, plead guilty and become a martyr, he said at his long-awaited arraignment at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The judge, Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann, asked Mohammed numerous times if he understood that he faces the death penalty. Mohammed responded, "That is what I wish. I wish to be martyred."

He told Kohlmann he could not accept any attorney because he only believes in Sharia, or Islamic law.

Mohammed and his four co-defendants, all suspected al Qaeda figures, are being arraigned on numerous charges for their alleged roles in the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on New York and Washington, which killed nearly 3,000 people.

FOOD SHORTAGE ARTICLES

In poor countries the price of the food is raising up too fast. Why? because the production of food is no longer the same as it was decades ago.The production of food is decreasing and the price is raising wildly .Thats what the World Bank believes, it says that 33 countries are in danger of being destabilised by food price inflation. This is important because now we all are going through this. For example the price of rise went up so fast because there is not that much rise to feed all the persons who live here in San Diego.

I think this is important because somehow we are going to suffer this food inflation and its and we need to be prepare.

Pentagon: Suspected Mastermind of USS Cole Bombing Confesses

In the article that I read that people are coming out and confessing about the suicide bombing. A guy named Waleed Mohammad confessed to the bombing of the U.S embassies in Kenya. Waleed said that he did plan the attack and that he purchase the bombs for the attack. What I think about this is that it is so wrong and just immoral to want to kill innocent people just because you do not like there country or the person who runs the country. It seems to me that the top dog the person in charge of making the decisions for the whole country does not get her in any aspect, but the innocent civilians seem to get the most pain and suffering.

Patriot Act

This article is about the law that was passed that is called Patriot Act. This Act gives the federal government the right to tap phone lines check e-mails and search homes on suspicion of acts of terrorism. Which means if the federal government has suspicion of terrorism. This also falls under the jurisdiction of home land security. This Act was passed was passed in haste following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Some people think that the government has the right to keep the country safe so they have to to give up a few things to make shore that their country is is safe. But some have a problem with that. Some say that it brake the Bill of Rights. And you never know if someone might say that the government will take advantage and start to just tab peoples phone called and and search peoples home.

Terrorism Research

I learn that terrorism has been going on for the longest and its true, terrorism does take some strategy and tactic. Then in a war the way you will look at it both side's of the war are terrorist. The terrorist are called terrorist because, when they do there terrorist attack its so cruel and people would called them terrorist. Mostly they are called terrorist by the way they to there crime and if their crime is so cruel and killed a lot of people or killed them in a horrible way they are terrorist not only the outsiders are terrorist we can be them to by the way we fight in the war.

Terrorism Research

What the article talked about was how terrorist used violence to spread fear during certain events, like in 1972 during the Munich Olympics terrorist from the Black September Organization killed 11 Israelis , though they killed the Israelis their targets were the billions of people watching it on TV. It also talked about methods the U.S. is using to try and stop the spread of terrorism. One method is influential talk get the civil population on their side in order to combat terrorism in a non-violent way.

international security chiefs meet in Jerusalem

This article talks about a meeting that its objective was terrorism. The chiefs that joined this meeting discussed how to stop terrorism and how terrorists see all this as an equivalent, and how religion has a huge role in this terrorism thing.
This is important to all of us because the government is trying to find ways to stop terrorism, it should concert to all of us that terrorism hasn't stop instead the world is afraid of more terrorist attacks. I think that all the meetings that the government is doing have a goal which is stop terrorism that carries war along with it.no war

Pentagon: Suspected Mastermind of USS Cole Bombing Confesses

During a hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba suspect Waleed Mohammed Attash confessed to the bombing of USS Cole. He also said he helped with the planning of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 that killed 213. Suicide bombers steered an explosives-laden boat into the battleship in Oct. 12, 2000. Five days before Attash's confession, the Pentagon released a record of hearings for three other major suspects at Guantanamo. One of them was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who confessed to nearly 3 dozen plots including the 9/11 attacks. He also said he met the man who did the embassy bombings just a few hours before operation went into action. Bin Attash also said he was with bin Laden when the Cole was attacked. Said to be an Al Qaeda operational chief.I believe all these plots and attacks are pointless, they have no good reasoning behind it, what are they getting accomplished?

Yemen attacks

Two female Belgian tourists and their driver have been killed after gunmen ambushed their convoy in eastern Yemen, four other Belgians were hurt in the attack. The attackers are believe to be al-Qaeda militants. Al-Qaeda has been blamed for a series of attacks in Yemen. In July 2006 seven Spanish tourists and their two local drivers died when a suicide bomber rammed his car packed with explosives into their vehicles.

40 countries face food shortages

What this article is basically talking about is the food shortages of over 40 countries, some which have always been in a crisis are nothing new of news like in Darfur, and several parts of Asia like Korea, and China, Latin America is also suffering like El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras. Some effects which should be a good thing for some countries are affecting them in a bad way, like in Darfur which has been having several floods, rainfall , are affecting the growth of food. But yet other parts of Africa aren't lucky enough to have rainfall. So you have people moving to different places trying to get resources they need to survive.

Food shortages loom as wheat crop shrinks and prices rise

The world is running out of wheat supplies, their prices are now at a all time high since stock has fallen to their lowest levels for 50 years. This can lead to higher food prices on things like bread, biscuits , beer, and other basis foods. This can also lead to serious food shortages especially in places like Africa. This all links to the climate change, also known as global warming. The heat waves are damaging crops, interfering with wheat harvests. Its also effecting populations who consume meat products because livestock are not getting enough what they eat which is the crops. I believe that soon if something is not done there is going to be an even worse food shortages leaving people to starve. I don't believe though it isnecessary to raise food prices because it's not solving anything just creating more problems. This will soon leave people broke and unable to provide the things they need for their families and themselves and more people will become homeless.

What I learend about Food Shorages

This article says that the world is only ten weeks away from running out of wheat supplies after stocks fell to their lowest levels for 50 years. The crisis has pushed prices to an all-time high and could lead to further hikes in the price of bread, beer, biscuits and other basic foods. Experts blame climate change as heatwaves caused a slump in harvests last year in eastern Europe, Canada, Morocco and Australia, all big wheat producers.Booming populations and a switch to a meat-rich diet in the developing world also mean that about 110m tons of the world’s annual wheat crop is being diverted to feed livestock.
I think that we should try to tax the things that people buy but, it should only be things such as beer, cigarettes, and things that are known as unhealthy. They should also stop selling fast food chain restaurants. But if they cant stop them then they should tax them even higher prices.

40 contries face food shortages world wide.

Food shortages are in more then 40 countries world wide. countries like southern Asia, Australia, and Brazil. One of the main causes of the food shortages is weather. The really dry weather in some parts of the world are affecting the crops they are drying out and not being able to grow. That also relates to global warming which is causing the dry air. Another cause is the stock. There is more demand then there is supply.
I think that this can be helped if everyone just did one thing in there house hold to help out. People can stop waisting food as much and start donating. I also think that this is a very scary situation, just thinking about there not being enough food to go around for all the people of the world just makes you think "Whats really going to happen in the future?"

Cite Your Sources Please

Your group is still working really hard and I am so impressed by your desire to find information and seek understanding about your topic. I want you to link to your sources though. You must cite where your information comes from.

Causes of terrorism

main causes of terrorism:
separatism
nationalism
religion
ethnicity
moral disagreements
resistance against an oppressor

separatism:
a self-righteous group separating themselves from all forms of government or dictation

nationalism:
the devotion to your nation or leaders , the desire to destroy all who don't agree with or follow through with the way they are being governed

religion:
believing so strongly that there is only one set of rules to live by and who ever does not abide does not deserve to live

ethnicity:
basically extreme racism, hate for any culture that isnt your own

moral disagreements:
believing that not agreeing with the way something is done is extremely offensive

resistance against an oppressor:
if there is any type of oppression, there will always be a group to disagree and do anything in their power to get the point across that they will not be oppressed without retaliation or a fight.

The basic fuel for the fire in all of these causes are the mentality that if you don't think the same as these people, you don't deserve to live.

Climate Change Has Major Impact on Oceans

I've learned that the climate change has a major impact on the oceans.

The increase of greenhouse gas emissions is causing a rise in the oceans temperature. This poses a threat to the life and reproduction of coral, not to mention all of the sea critters that call the coral their home. The change in temperature also leads to higher levels of acidity in seawater and affects the circulation of the atmosphere in a negative way. Within the past 30 years, only 20% of the Caribbean coral reefs are still fighting for their lives.
The change in climate has not only affected sea life below the surface, but the wind patterns as well. Prolonged wind storms are becoming more and more common and make a significant impact on the productivity of what happens under water.

CDI Terrorism Project

There are at least 56 known terrorist organizations today. All of these groups are considered to be still active during the past five years. One of these 56 groups that is well known to the U.S. is Al Qaeda. The organization was establish by Osama bin Laden in the late 1980's. Their main mission and goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throughout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems "non-Islamic," and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries. They are known to have several hundred to several thousand members. They are responsible for many bombings and shooting down U.S. military crafts and killing of men in service. I believe trying to basically take over the world is ridiculous, there's no good explanation to persuade people to join you to take lives and harm people that don't side with you to get what you want to favor yourself.

THE EFFECTS OF TERRORISM

Terrorism the deliberate creation of fear to bring out political change. in order to do this terrorists scared people by using violence. No one knows for sure how terrorism came to exist but what we all know is that it causes the death of many innocent people and brings the feeling of anger to different cultures or different countries. The article I was reading about terrorism , said that terrorists are people who is only seeking for publicity. The think that this inhuman acts can bring them to the top of the world, the most wanted ones. This people or terrorists are only seeking for "fame" and they are planing to get it by attacking places and killing innocent people. I think this information is important because is shows what terrorists are really standing for, they only want to destroy people's life and destroy the relationship between other nations, bringing violence and discontent as result.
this picture shows a terrorist attack9-11

What I learned about Climate Change

Well what I learned about the climate of this time is that it has changed a lot, the temperature has increased a lot, like if you go out walking you will get a tan. Then in the North Pole its so hot, the ice is melting and when the ice is melting its hurting a lot of the north pole animals. Then with this weird climate that we have it's affecting the animals on there way of living because the temperature is changing the animals are moving a lot and moving to different places.

What I leared about Terrorism

I learned that the United Nations have adopted a plan to counter terrorism . on 8 September 2006. The strategy, in the form of a resolution and an annexed Plan of action (A/RES/60/288), is a unique global instrument that will enhance national, regional and international efforts to counter terrorism. This is the first time that all Member States have agreed to a common strategic approach to fight terrorism, not only sending a clear message that terrorism is unacceptable in all its forms and manifestation but also resolving to take practical steps individually and collectively to prevent and combat it. Those practical steps include a wide array of measures ranging from strengthening state capacity to counter terrorist threats to better coordinating United Nations system’s counter-terrorism activities. The adoption of the strategy fulfils the commitment made by world leaders at the 2005 September Summit and builds on many of the elements proposed by the Secretary-General in his 2 May 2006 report, entitled Uniting against Terrorism: Recommendations for a Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

Climate change - impact on the oceans

I found the article to be interesting because it explains how the climate has change and altered our planet, it shows evidence about how the oceans have changed, it shows what the climate has done to alter our oceans because it changed the temperature oceans that were once cold are now warm.

What I learned about Climate Change

Today I learned that climate change is affecting all parts of the world. Not only is it affecting the oceans and the land but it's also affecting animals and plants. This will lead to massive extinction of different spices. .Studies show that all the continents are being affected by climate change. Permafrost is melting and ice glaciers are shrinking and it's getting hot.

What I read about climate changes

Climate changes are already changing our planets biology.
the biological impact of spring arriving much earlier than years before could cause the unbalance of ecosystems. "There could be some cooling in Europe and North America over the coming decade as the natural cooling offsets the warming from human activities,"

What I thought of other Blogs

I think that the blogs need some work. I'm not saying that mine is the best. It could also use some work. But from what I saw and read it looks like the other groups need some help. So tips for the other groups that I have are:
1. Work on it at home.
2. Take time and effort.
3. Make shore that you have a way to contact you group members besides using their e-mails.

I also think that the blogs should have a little bit more creativity. Add photos, videos, poles etc.

Climate Change

Today I learned that climate change is affecting all parts of the world. Not only is climate change affecting the oceans and the land but it's also affecting animals and plants. Studies show that all the continents are being affected by climate change. Permafrost is melting and ice glaciers are shrinking and it's getting hot.

Climate Change Has Major Impact On Oceans

I've learned that the oceans are changing rapidly due to climate change. Temperatures are rising and so are the acidity of seawater. Even the circulation pattern is even changing unpredictably. The oceans are becoming more acidic. It's providing a threat to coral reefs which already are in great danger. We have already lost 80% of coral reefs in the last three decades. The higher than normal temperatures are causing a breakdown in the relationship between corals and their main algae, zooxanthellae. Without it corals catch a disease and are unable to reproduce. Killing the coral reef population which will soon affect marine life.

Why so much evil?

I have learned that terrorism has disrupted the earth in a very effective way. I have learned that everyone is now very cautious of terrorism and what could potentially happy if we don't take precautions. The world is so full of hate and crime that no one even knows who is a terrorist and who is not.
